Scenarist can generate the appropriate virtual machine command for each menu button
in the root menu where there is no conditional branching. To link the motion video
thumbnails from the root menu to each chapter in the title, we can just drag the
button icon and drop it at the corresponding program icon labeled 02r-t-scn-pg and
02r-pink-t-scn-pg as following.
Since there are three menu buttons in the root menu, Scenarist prompts for the button
which will be assigned the generated virtual machine command. We now select the
button 2 from the prompt window to link this menu item to the second chapter of the
title. In the following screen shot, the coordinates of the menu button 2 is
displayed when the cursor is placed on it momentarily. We click on this button to
select it. Scenarist generates the virtual command JumpVTS_PTT n (where n is the
part-of-title number) for this menu button automatically. For simple authoring
projects without complex branching logic, this method of command generation hides
many complex aspects of the DVD virtual machine instructions from the DVD author.
