Scenarist creates the first subpicture layer for the still scene page0-t-scn. The
DVD specifications allow the creation of up to 32 subpicture layers. The default
language for this subpicture layer is "Not Specified". We should select an
appropriate language code so that the language choice is displayed by a standard DVD
player (when the Subtitle/Subpicture button is pressed on the remote control unit).
In this example, we choose English as the language code for the first subpicture
stream.
To create the root menu page, we drag the data item page0-t-scn from the Tracks pane
of the Asset Manager window and drop it into the root PGC as following.
Scenarist automatically creates the required program and cell to hold the display
for the root menu page (as a still picture). The root menu is not operational until
we add the menu items (commonly known as menu buttons) and assign the appropriate
playback actions to these menu buttons. We can see how the actual root menu page
looks like in the Simulation window by double clicking the cell icon as shown in
the following screen capture. We can also display the Simulation window by clicking
its icon from the tool bar.
