This guide shows you a quick way to add some nice text effects to your DVD menu
design using Adobe Photoshop. This example uses Photoshop version 7. The following
screen shot displays the letters "Play" in this "Sticky Jelly" style. This style
works well with non-serif text with rounded corners. The effect looks convincing
with primary colors and short words at fairly large size. This style can be very
appealing for the title of your movie feature. Here I used a fairly light and plain
color background to demonstrate its effect.
Step 1.
Type in your text or use an image of the desired letters in black on a transparent
background. You need to make sure that the background is transparent (not white or
anything else), otherwise those next steps will not work properly.
Step 2.
We are going to add a style to this layer. Click this option to show the next
window. You should have the Layers window open to see this option. If not, from
the menu, click Windows -> Layers to display the Layers window.
Now select the blending options. Photoshop displays a list of options available for
blending. We are going to use six blending options: drop shadow, inner shadow,
bevel and emboss, color overlay, gradient overlay and, optional stroke.
