This page provides more explanations on major features of the
Flash photo gallery template 101 to help you produce your gallery quickly and painlessly.
Gallery Configuration
Before designing a photo gallery, you will need to decide how large your gallery will be.
Use the popular monitor screen resolution as a guide. There are several typical sizes: 640x480,
800x600, or 1024x768. The larger the photo gallery, the slower your gallery images will load.
The following picture shows the depiction of various gallery parameters.
The default frame rate is 20 fps (frames per second).
If you do not use any transition effect, a very small frame rate like 4 fps is recommended.
Larger frame rate creates smoother animation but requires a lot more computing resources.
You can choose a solid color for your photo gallery background or simply upload your background image.
The background image can come from your local desktop computer or any Internet address (such as
http://yoursite.yourimage.jpg). Choose your color by clicking on the eyedropper tool below.
Drag and click until you find the color you want. The chosen color is displayed in a small rectangle
next to the tool.
The default background color is white.
Transition effects
This template provides 13 transition effects commonly used in traditional video and film. You can define
the duration of the transition in seconds. The easing option slows down the transition speed towards the end
of the transition effect.
1. Fade. The transparency of each image is changed gradually over time so that the new image is faded in
while the existing one is faded out.
2. Zoom. The new image is scaled gradually over time until until the existing image is completely covered.
3. Zoom & Fade. Each image is scaled gradually over time so that the new image is scaled up while being
faded in and the existing image is scaled down while being faded out.
4. Push Vertical. The existing image is split from the center and pushed toward the top and bottom sides
to reveal the new image underneath.
5. Push Horizontal. The existing image is split from the center and pushed toward the left and right sides
to reveal the new image underneath.
6. Pull Vertical. The new image is formed by pulling its parts from the top and bottom sides until the
existing image is completely covered.
7. Pull Horizontal. The new image is formed by pulling its parts from the left and right sides until the
existing image is completely covered.
8. Roll Vertical. The new image is revealed by splitting the existing image at its center and rolling up
towards the top and bottom sides.
9. Roll Horizontal. The new image is revealed by splitting the existing image at its center and rolling up
towards the left and right sides.
10. Strip Vertical. The new image is formed by moving a specified number of strips in the vertical direction
until the existing image is completely covered.
11. Strip Horizontal. The new image is formed by moving a specified number of strips in the horizontal
direction until the existing image is completely covered.
12. Blind Vertical. This window blind effect reveals the new image underneath when all vertical blind strips
made their complete turn.
13. Blind Horizontal. This window blind effect reveals the new image underneath when all horizontal blind strips
made their complete turn.
You can define the number of strips for "strip" and "blind" effects.
Thumbnails
Thumbnails are automatically generated at a specified size and can be oriented either vertically or horizontally.
You can group the thumbnails into rows or columns and positioned them anywhere in your gallery. You can optionally
scale the entire image to fit within each thumbnail by toggling the "Fit entire image to thumbnail" checkbox.
You can also customize individual thumbnail by uploading your prepared images.
The thumbnail spacing is measured from the top left corners of adjacent ones. To avoid overlapping, the spacing
should always be slightly larger than the width and height of each thumbnail.
You can use the following available highlights or upload your own patterns.
Please note that when you choose the border option, the border thickness should be at least 1 pixel to be visible.
Press down the Ctrl key and click the desired choices to have multiple selections.
Sessions
When the browser is closed, the server saves each trial session for 24 hours. Paid sessions are saved up to 31 days.
All images, thumbnails, and parameters to configure your photo gallery are restored automatically when the page is
reopened. If your browser disables the use of sessions and cookies, a unique ID is supplied for paid sessions so that
the session can always be restored regardless of your browser's settings.
