In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a simplistic, yet effective preloader with the use of ActionScripting. Before you start, it is advised you know a bit about the layout of Flash and basic usability. This particular preloader should only be used for smaller flash files, since it doesn't display the progress of the download itself, but only a looping animation (or whatever you have used to kill time with). For any large Flash presentations, a bar/percentage preloader should be used, which actually shows the amount of data loaded.

One of my favourite new features of Flash MX, has to be the new event model, it just makes life so much easier and makes coding so much more fun and so much more organised. If you dont know much about it, then now is the time to find out, you really are missing out, but no doubt you are already using it without even realising. This article will hopefully help everybody that reads it, whether you are a beginner or a flash super user, understand the flash event model, and help you to use it. I think the best way to explain something new to somebody so that they can learn from it is to compare the subject with something that humans can relate to in their everyday lifes; A real world Analogy, so this article uses analogies to convey some of the concepts.

You have just got an amazing idea for a new exciting flash game and you start coding and designing frantically. Suddenly you stop and you remember that you had to stop working on your last project because you could not understand your code anymore; worse, you could not locate most of it at all. Without even mentioning the fact that you had erased some precious graphics by mistake because of the random naming convention you always apply to your library assets. Right, time for a change...a new Flash developer is about to be born.

Macromedia's popular application Flash has redefined the way web developers approach web design. With flash the web developer is now able to create a user experience that is rich in media and relatively quick loading, especially compared to traditional methods like GIF animations. Websites made up of music, videos, and custom, graphic intensive interfaces are all possible with Macromedia Flash. This beginner tutorial provides a basic overview of the Macromedia Flash program and covers lessons on drawing, animating, tweening, etc.

Guide layers are very useful when creating a professional movie. They help you ensure that everything is where it should be. You can use a grid and snap objects to it or you can create your own Guide layer. Guide Layers Also Have Good Application for flash game design for non AI oriented Non-Playable Characters (think Sonic1). This is a tutorial on how to use guide layers in Macromedia Flash, because good flash presentations must consist of a balance of actionscript and timeline effects.
