In this tutorial you're going to learn how to add a motion blur effect to your animation, using a third party software. Since Flash Doesn't allow us to add blur to our objects, we're going to use Adobe Photoshop. The trick involved here is to import 2 images to Flash, one is the normal image, and the other one is motion-blurred in Photoshop. By applying motion tween to our motion-blurred image, we can make our object look as if it is actually accelerating! Just like our little UFO on the left.

The middle of one is colored, you click on a different box and the middle color slides to the box you clicked with a cool sliding effect (a faded trail). This effect is highly re-usable and easy to implement with different shapes and several of them. Source code included! Concepts: actionscript animation, button press.

This is a great effect for beginners to achieve, as it's so simple. It requires just a little bit of motion tweening to complete, and is possible in most versions of Flash. So without any more delay, open Flash. On layer 1, set the size of the stage to 200x100 via the Properties menu. Set the background color to black also. Select the line tool from the tools menu on the left hand side, or press N as a shortcut.
