If you have touched any computer based photo editing programs, you might have realized that photos are nothing more than zeros and ones. Everything comes back to math... even your good old Color wheel.
Let's assume that the color wheel is a 360° circle. The perfect matching complementary color will be on the opposite side (180°) In Photoshop just hit (CTRL+I) and/or anything called "invert colors" in other programs.
If you wanted a three color layout, you would divide the wheel by 3. In Photoshop, (CTRL+U) and choose +120 for the second color, and -120 for the third. (in other programs look for anything, called HUE modification).
