6. I use SmartRipper to rip the movie DVD to a folder
but DVD-Replica does not accept this folder ?
You need to rip the movie DVD in "Back up" modes. Other modes do not store the
navigation files (.IFO) required for splitting and reauthoring. A DVD consists of video, audio,
and subpicture contents stored in VOB files. The commands for navigation and playback are
stored in the IFO files. The IFO files, in a nut shell, is the blue print to tell the DVD players
how the DVD contents (movie titles) are organized on the disc, and how the titles are played back.
Without the IFO files, DVD players (and DVD-Replica) do not know how to process the VOB files.

9. How does the lossless backup process work in a
nutshell ?
In a nutshell, if you want to back up movie DVDs, these are the basic steps you need to do:
1. Use
SmartRipper (Back up mode) or
DVD Decrypter (type F or click Mode->File
and Ctrl-A) to convert (rip) the encrypted video to "unencrypted" video on your
hard disk. This step circumvents the CSS (Contents Scrambling System) copy-protection
of the original movide DVD. It is illegal in most countries to do so for non-personal purposes.
If you are not sure about your rights of fair use, consult your legal advisor before doing so.
2. Use
DVD-Replica to select which movie title you
want to back up (a movie DVD has many titles such as the main movie, advertisement, copyright warning,
trailers, etc. Each film clip is a title). If you want to back up the movie with its menu,
use the VTS option. VTS stands for Video Title Set. Most commercial movie DVDs do not fit within one
single DVD-R if all titles are backed up without any changes.
3. DVD-Replica will output a folder which has the backup copy of your DVD video
ready for burning. Your backup copies retain the original (lossless) video, audio, and
subtitle quality of the movie DVD. You must rename this output folder to VIDEO_TS before
burning with any dvd burner software.
