We want the framed menu button to have the following behavior. When it is being
highlighted, pressing the up or down arrow key on the remote control will display
the first menu page automatically. DVD-Lab Pro provides both auto-routing and
manual routing functions for button highlighting. This behavior can be implemented
by creating a dummy button with the "Rectangle" tool from the icon tool bar as
following.
The dummy button must have the following attributes: 1) it must be linked to the
first page menu (Menu 1) so when it is selected, the first menu is displayed;
2) the auto-action checkbox must be set so that when the dummy button is selected
or highlighted, the link is executed automatically without having to press the
Enter key on the remote control; 3) the dummy button is set to "Invisible All"
so it cannot be seen when it is either in selected or highlighted state.
We now uncheck the auto-routing mode to do the manual routing. In this project,
we do only the routing for the up and down key. You can easily add the same
behavior to the left and right key if desired. To perform the up link, we select
the up arrow icon on the tool bar, drag from inside the frame object and drop it
to the dummy button. DVD-Lab Pro creates a navigation link so that when the
thumbnail button is highlighted and the up arrow is pressed, the dummy button
is selected. Since this dummy button has the auto-action attribute, its link
(Menu 1) is executed automatically. This effectively displays the first page of
the menu. The dummy button is always invisible so the behavior is that pressing
the up arrow key (while highlighting the framed button) displays the first menu
page.
